Welcome to Helpero’s privacy policy (“Privacy Policy” or “Policy”).
This Policy outlines Helpero Inc. and its affiliates’ (collectively, “Helpero”, “we” or “us”) practices in relation to the collection, storage, usage, processing, and disclosure of personal data that you have chosen to share with us when you access our mobile app, Helpero Partner app (“Platform”) or avail services that we offer you on or through the Platform (collectively, the “Services”).
At Helpero, we are committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy. In order to provide you with Services, we have to collect and otherwise process certain data about you. This Policy explains how we process and use personal data about you. Please read this Policy in consonance with our Specialist Terms and Conditions.
1. BACKGROUND AND KEY INFORMATION
(a) About Us: The Services are made available to you by Helpero. If you have any questions about this Policy, how we process or handle your personal data, or otherwise, you may reach out to us at privacy@helpero.ca.
(b) How this Policy applies: This Policy applies to Service Professionals who use or want to use the Platform for providing their services to individual customers. For the avoidance of doubt, references to “you” across this Policy are to a Service Professional (or Partner) that uses or seeks to use our Platform to render their services.
(c) Review and Updates: We regularly review and update our Privacy Policy. It is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your personal data changes.
2. PERSONAL DATA THAT WE COLLECT
(a) We collect different types of personal data about you. This includes but is not limited to:
- Contact Data, such as email addresses, phone numbers, and permanent address.
- Identity and Profile-related Data, such as your name, mobile number, gender, date of birth, age, address, zip code, descriptions of services provided, content and information about your business including photographs and videos, background check verification reports, and government-issued identifiers (such as Driver's License or provincial IDs).
- Equipment & Financing Data, which includes your Social Insurance Number (SIN) collected for tax-reporting purposes and collections/debt tracking under the Lease-to-Own agreement, bank statement details, and credit card holds.
- Technical Data, which includes your IP address, device ID, location data, and platform activity logs.
- Transaction Data, such as your structural payouts, Stripe Connect information, bank details, and amounts deducted for equipment financing.
- Usage Data, which includes application usage and activity data, call and chat records with customers, and GPS tracking during order execution.
3. HOW DO WE COLLECT PERSONAL DATA?
We use different methods to collect personal data from and about you including through:
(a) Direct Interactions. You provide us your personal data when you interact with us during registration, application for Lease-to-Own kits, and customer service requests.
(b) Automated technologies. We collect Technical Data about your equipment and location using background GPS, cookies, and similar technologies.
(c) Third parties. We receive data from background verifiers, credit bureaus, and payment processors like Stripe.
4. HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
(a) We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to do so, for the following purposes:
- to verify your identity and conduct necessary background checks;
- to match you with potential Customers and track location during service fulfillment;
- to process payouts via Stripe and administer deductions for Partner Kits;
- to track equipment financing debt, and, in cases of severe default, assign outstanding debts to third-party Collection Agencies;
- to assess the quality of your services based on Customer reviews;
- to comply with legal obligations including tax reporting (T4A distribution).
5. DISCLOSURES OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA
We may share your personal data with third parties for the purposes set out above, including:
- Customers who seek to use or have used the services you choose to offer through the Platform.
- Trusted third-party providers such as background verification services, Stripe (for payments), server hosts, and collection agencies (in the event of default).
- Regulators and law enforcement as required by law or to protect our legal rights.
6. DATA SECURITY AND RETENTION
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access. Your personal data will continue to be stored and retained by us for as long as necessary to fulfil our stated purposes, and for a reasonable period after the termination of your account to comply with our legal, accounting, and debt recovery obligations.
